Before I started lessons with Vicki, my perception was that they would be quite formal, with the emphasis on reading music and playing a certain style. Vicki’s lessons have an informal approach and teach various types of music. I can now play numerous songs, both by using chord progressions and by picking individual notes. I understand how the notes and chords fit in on the fretboard and the benefits of using the correct fingers to formulate chords or pick individual notes.
I really enjoy the informal approach of the lessons and the ability to talk and play with other budding guitarists. There is also a great deal of flexibility with the lessons. For example if you cannot make a lesson, you can attend at another time that week or make up the lesson at a later date. Vicki is never far away to answer a query plus the on-line back-up is extremely useful. The monthly Jam sessions are fun and present an opportunity to mix and play with other guitarists at all levels, without feeling under pressure. As a 60+ year old, I honestly believe you are never too old to learn. I have had my guitar for many years and due to business and family life I always had trouble finding the time to take lessons and practice. Since retiring from work I have been able to fulfil my longing to play and haven’t looked back since. I really enjoy the whole experience. Do it!
